　　有人说背单词最费时间，我想说，那是你没做雅思阅读，大篇幅的文章，等你看完，好不容易分析出一点意思，不好意思，时间已经滴答滴答过去很久了，那么做雅思阅读时最怕遇到什么呢？很多人肯定会说是怎么都分不清啥意思的长难句，的确，它一直是烤鸭们头疼的一部分，到底长难句应该如何解析，如何在短时间内能快速从句子中找到题目要点呢，这点就是我们在日后训练中需要提高的技能。

　　His approach to the problems that had worried writers throughout the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries was intensely practical.（511）

　　红色部分---主句His approach主语was系动词intensely practical表语.

　　黑色部分---定语从句修饰限定先行词problems

　　approach同义替换：way,method,key,solution,resolution等，后面使用介词to，加名词或者doing，而不是for或者of

　　译文：他的方法对于解决困扰17世纪晚期和18世纪早期作家的问题非常实用。

　　It is the cornerstone of Standard English,an achievement which,in James Boswell's words,‘conferred stability on the language of his country.’（511）

　　红色部分主句，主系表结构。Cornerstone奠基石，standard English标准英语

　　扩展milestone里程碑sth is around the corner某件事将要发生，即将来临

　　蓝色部分主语补足语，后面接黑色定语从句，which指代修饰限定achievement，which和从句谓语conferred中间插入绿色的插入语，指引号中的内容为James Boswell's的话。

　　Confer v.赋予，文中同义替换bring，同义词:afford,award,allow,grant,deal,provide,give,supply

　　Stability n.稳定性stable adj.

　　它是标准英语的奠基石，用James Boswell的话讲就是“赋予了他所在国家语言的稳定性。”

　　This is not just because of the importance of English-speaking countries such as the USA in scientific research；the scientists of many non-English-speaking countries find that they need to write their research papers in English to reach a wide international audience.（523）

　　红色分号将两个分句隔开，绿色分句为主系表结构，such as the USA是对English-speaking countries的举例说明。蓝色句子里the scientists of many non-speaking countries为分句的主语，find谓语，find后是that引导的宾语从句，宾语从句补充说明非英语国家的科学家发现内容。大家需要了解分号可以和连词起到一样的作用，连接主谓宾都全的两个完整句子。精读时先断开这两个句子，分别独自分析。

　　翻译：这不仅仅是因为英语国家，例如美国在科学研究领域的重要地位；许多非英语国家的科学家发现他们需要用英语撰写研究论文，才能在国际上获得广泛的读者。

　　European countries are becoming increasingly concerned by major threats to European forests,threats which know no frontiers other than those of geography or climate:air pollution,soil deterioration,the increasing number of forest fires and sometimes even the mismanagement of our woodland and forest heritage.（733）

　　红色为句子的主句，后面的黑色内容全部为major threats to European forests的同位语。在这个同位语中，which又引导了一个下划线部分的定语从句修饰限定先行词threats。后面冒号的部分并列名词及名词短语。

　　两个短语需要注意：know no frontiers无限，无止境；other than除了。increase这个词异常重要，建议自己查全同义替换。Heritage n.遗产，各种遗产都要保护，好用词！

　　翻译：欧洲国家越来越重视欧洲森林所受到的主要威胁，除了地理和气候外，还有很多威胁，比如：空气污染、土壤退化、不断增多的森林火灾，甚至是我们有时候对林地和森林遗产的不善管理。
