Learning a language is never limited to the usage of words and phrases, correct grammar structures, and clear pronunciation. Mastering a new language goes hand in hand with getting to know the culture of the countries that speak it. Everyone will agree that food and cousin make an essential part of any culture.

Senior students showed a continuous and genuine interest in this topic and suggested having a PBL class dedicated to that. The process includes three main stages.

Stage One happened over the winter break when students researched and investigated interesting and most common dishes in different countries of Latin America. All the information they gathered was to be put on a PPT and delivered to their classmates at the beginning of the new semester.

During Stage Two students shared their projects with the class and they chose the dish they want to cook. They went over the recipes and the lists of the ingredients and compared them to the ingredients used in Chinese cuisine.

For Stage Three students got together under the supervision of Ms. Irina, the Spanish teacher. They cooked tacos, the most common Mexican dish.

It is something that gets lots of references in modern culture. It was not a cultural experience and also motivated the students to work as a team, share their cooking skills and knowledge about food, and made them feel as if they had a short trip to a Spanish-speaking country.

相信大家都会赞同这个观点，食物是任何文化的重要组成部分。高年级的学生对这个话题表现出极大的兴趣，他们建议有一个PBL班专门讨论这个问题。该过程包括三个主要阶段：

阶段，寒假期间，学生们研究和调查了拉丁美洲不同国家最常见的有趣菜肴。他们将收集到的所有信息制作成PPT，并在新学期开始时向班级里的其他同学介绍它。

第二阶段，同学之间分享了他们的项目，并选择了他们想做的菜。他们研究菜谱后选择了食材，并把所需食材与中国菜中所常用的食材进行了比对。

第三阶段，同学们在西班牙语老师Irina的指导下一起合作，做了最常见的墨西哥菜玉米饼。

此次的PBL课堂，不仅是一次文化体验，更激发了同学们作为一个团队进行合作的浓厚兴趣，同学们互相分享和学习烹饪的技巧和食物的相关知识，大家仿佛经历了一次在西班牙语国家的短途旅行。

作为这次活动的主要负责⼈，从前期的采购到最后的实施及收尾，我全权作为leader来负责。通过这次活动，我学习到了很多。虽然作为Life Science社⻓，做这些事情原本就轻车熟路的，但第⼀次去管理这么多⼈，⼗分不⼀样，让我在管理上有了进⼀步的了解及提升，虽然中间也有小失误，但是总体⼗分地成功！！！期待学校在后期能组织更多这样的活动，对⼤家都有提升。

在这次的⻄班⽛烹饪课上，我和同学们⼀起制作了墨⻄哥卷饼，度过了⼀段愉快的时光，也是我的⾼中⽣活中一段无法磨灭的记忆。在这⾥，我要感谢刘⽼师、Irina⽼师，给予我们这样⼀个好机会来体验⻄班⽛美⻝。

我们做了Tacos。这是⼀种⻄班⽛语地区的传统美⻝。主要配料有⽜油果、彩椒、洋葱、鸡⾁，还有⽟⽶⾯饼⽪，把这些⻝材包好之后，在上⾯淋上美味的莎莎酱。Mavis作为Cooking Club的社⻓，担任了这次Tacos制作的主厨，很负责！我们吃得很开⼼！通过美⻝来了解⽂化，绝对是⼀种有效的学习⽅式。哈哈~

这堂课的体验非常好！我了解了⻄语国家的⽂化，更加深⼊地学习了⻄语。我相信这对于之后将在⻄海岸加州学习的同学有莫⼤的帮助。另外，我们还学习到了许多的⽣活技巧，这让我们可以从容应对之后的⽣活。我个人是⾮常乐意将时间花在这些有趣且对未来有帮助的事情上。
