　　GCSE Mathematics provide evidence of students’ achievements against demanding and fulfilling content, to give students the confidence that the mathematical skills, knowledge and understanding that they will have acquired during the course of their study are as good as that of the highest performing jurisdictions in the world, and, provide a strong foundation for further academic and vocational study and foremployment, to give students the appropriate mathematical skills, knowledge and understanding to help them progress to a full range of courses in further and higher education, besides, which also provides(if required) a basis for schools and colleges to be held accountable forthe performance of all of their students to meet their requirements for mathematics needs.
　　考试结构Exam：
　　Three externally-examined papers, all must be from the same tire of entry.
　　1. Foundation tier - grades 1 to 5 available
　　2. Higher tier grades – 4 to 9 available (grade 3 allowed).
　　考试形式Format：
　　Externally assessed
　　33.33% of the total GCSE
　　Paper 1:
　　Written examination papers with a range of question types
　　No calculator is allowed
　　1 hour and 30 minutes (both Foundation and Higher tier papers)
　　80 marks available
　　Paper 2 & Paper 3
　　Written examination papers with a range of question types
　　Calculator allowed
　　1 hour and 30 minutes (both Foundation and Higher tier papers)
　　80 marks available
