　　GCSE study in the sciences provides the foundation for understanding the material world, giving students an insight into how science works and that enable them to appreciate its relevance to their everyday lives, and, encourage them to be inspired, motivated and challenged by the subject and its achievements on its development of scientific thinking, using of experimental skills and strategies, applying of analysis and evaluation, as well as its recognition of scientific vocabulary, quantities, units, symbols and nomenclature.

　　Two externally-examined papers
　　Written examination: 1 hour and 45 minutes
　　50% of the qualification
　　100 marks
　　考试形式Format：
　　A mixture of different question styles, including：
　　1. Multiple-choice questions
　　2. Short answer questions
　　3. Calculations
　　4. Extended open-response questions.
